Central State Film Archive preserves, protects and promotes one of the greatest assets of the Albanian nation: the movie .
The State Central Archives of Film, as one of the main departments of the studio "New Albania", kept correctly and in optimum condition all the real archival footage that had created generations of filmmakers, screenwriters, directors, actors, operators, painters, composers, property master, drivers etc. It has its owned fund had an archival film, old, almost 100 years, with rare cultural heritage and with a high potential use.
CSFA Union has its origins had the look of a simple warehouse, inherited from the war, located in an area near the Clock Tower, Tirana, which began to function as a modest Cinematheque. They began periodically deposited films from film fund inherited from the nationalization of private cinemas in the country. In 1947 it was created the first Albanian Cinematographic Enterprise based on the decision no. 160 of the Council of Ministers, by Decree no. 314 of Law no. 422 "On the nationalization of cinema". From now on, work with film archives began to take a more specialized and films began to be preserved in the most appropriate conditions, according to standards set for the preservation of films in different surfaces.
On the basis of documents found in the Central State Archive of Film, structure analytical and organizational studio "New Albania", in 1987, numbered about 645 employees, of whom 274 officers (in high school), 178 employees disciplined (high school) and 198 workforce. By order no. 86, dated April 29, 1997 of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Women created Archives Central State Film (CSFA) as a budgetary institution under the Ministry of Culture, Youth, Women and the secession of the institution of "Albafilm Studio", which then it inherits all the national film that was created by Kinostudio "New Albania". With this normative act, archival activity in CSFA States and work with documents received institutional character.

Having learned from the experience of analogue institutions in Europe and being in constant contact with them, the leaders of the Archives enabled in our institution to apply a physiognomy of a new future, to preserve and promote the intrinsic value of this national wealth. Historical documents: 10 documentaries in 35 mm, 144 documentaries on videotape.Artistic: 33 feature films during the short 35 and 39 mm films on videotape, 30 cartoons in 35 mm, 16 cartoons on videotape.
Foreign film fund contains 699 titles: 236 films, 118 documentaries, 345 Kronikal.

CSFA archives are stored all technical scenarios related directorial film production and film every literary scenario that is not cast in manufacturing for various reasons. The photo collection of the Central State Film Archive has over 6100 pictures inherited from the Albanian Cinematographic Enterprise establishment - later called Kinostudio "New Albania" - which have great archival value.
